The Christmas cups have arrived at Bean Shot in Sherborne, and we have something else to share: Bean Shot Rush is live. The snowy street wrapped around the cup is now a free browser game, made by The Artist Studio.
Pick up a coffee, scan the QR code on the cup and step into the illustration. You can also play straight from the link below. There is no app to download, and you do not need to buy a coffee to join in.
A Christmas cup made in Sherborne
Alice Loader, our studio illustrator, created the winter street for this year’s Bean Shot cup. Lamplit windows, snowy rooftops and a full moon wrap around the design, with Bean Shot’s shopfront in the row and The Artist Studio’s coloured window at the end.
Both businesses are on South Street, so this is a local collaboration in the most literal sense. Seeing the finished cups at the coffee bar brings the illustration back to the place behind it.
Now you can run across the rooftops
In Bean Shot Rush, you play Alex, one of Bean Shot’s baristas, with six coffees to deliver. Run and jump across the painted street, reach each customer in order, then make your way back to the studio’s coloured window to finish.
The cup artwork supplies the map. Window sills, canopies and chimney pots become places to land, so the details you spot while drinking your coffee are the same ones you explore in the game.
Start with Practice if you want to find your feet without a clock. When you are ready, Time Trial gives you 180 seconds to complete the deliveries, with three seconds added for each spill.
On a phone, use the on-screen arrows and jump button. On a computer, use the arrow keys and Space. Hold jump for a little longer to reach higher ledges.
A race for your next coffee
The weekly race gives everyone the same route to try. The fastest checked time wins a free coffee to collect at Bean Shot in Sherborne.
Entry is free and no purchase is necessary. The competition is for UK residents aged 16 or over, excluding staff of Bean Shot and The Artist Studio and their households. Check the current weekly race and full competition terms for the schedule, entry details and prize collection.
